Dr. Jane Westendorf provides Veterinary Spinal Manipulative Therapy (animal chiropractic care) for our patients. VSMT identifies and treats areas of muscle tension and restricted movement along the spine and limbs. After a hands-on and movement assessment, quick, controlled adjustments are used to relieve muscle tension, restore normal joint range of motion, and improve local blood flow and nerve function. VSMT is performed only by veterinarians or chiropractors with animal chiropractic certification.

VSMT can help horses with generalized body soreness, back and sacroiliac discomfort, compensatory pain from chronic lameness or arthritis, and reduced flexibility. It can improve subtle lameness and overall comfort, but more significant lameness needs veterinary diagnosis and treatment and will not resolve with VSMT alone.
