What We Stand For
Integrity, leadership, excellence and passion are the four values behind everything we do at Horizon Equine. They shape how we care for each horse, how we work with owners, trainers and stable managers, and how our veterinarians and staff work together every day.
Integrity
Integrity means doing what is right for the horse. We give owners honest information about their horse’s condition, the options available, and what each will cost. We only make promises we can keep, and we take responsibility for our decisions. Care is decided together with the owner, with the horse’s welfare at the centre.
Leadership
Leadership means bringing new knowledge and tools into equine practice and sharing what we learn with each other and our clients. Our veterinarians lecture at industry conferences, mentor veterinary students to support the next generation of doctors, and accept referrals from other clinics needing assistance. We are committed to bringing proven new diagnostic and treatment tools into our practice and helping clients and colleagues understand when they are best applied.
Excellence
Excellence means holding our medicine to a high standard on every case, from a routine wellness visit to a complex lameness workup. Our veterinarians and staff keep their skills current and evolving through continuing education, and we regularly review how we work so we can improve care for horses and service for clients. We follow up on our cases because we care how each horse does, and we learn from the results.
Passion
Passion means we care deeply about the work of equine medicine: working through a difficult lameness, seeing a mare carry a foal to term, getting a colic case home safely, and watching a horse return to its job. Many of our veterinarians and staff are horse people themselves, so we understand what each horse means to its owner. That passion is why we chose this profession, and it shows in the care we give every horse.
